Katherine (played by Florence Pugh) is married to a substantially older and bitter man whose family also has little regard for Katherine. One day, her husband is called away, and her father-in-law follows, leaving Katherine in charge. She soon begins an affair with one of the hired hands. I enjoyed the movie. It is well-acted, and Florence Pugh turns in a stunning performance as a woman transformed into someone who will stop at nothing to get what she wants while always giving the appearance of being a proper lady. It is also an interesting period piece about class and classism. Thumbs-up for a story we have seen in other films but was, for me, all about getting to experience Pugh’s commanding performance.
